How Hiring Works

Every hire includes the floating golf green fully installed on your water, a tee platform with safety matting, loan clubs and floating golf balls, and one experienced Water Hazard operator on site for the full duration of your event. We handle delivery, installation and full derig at the end of the day — you don't need to lift a finger.

We recommend booking at least four to six weeks in advance to allow time for a site assessment and any local authority liaison if required. For peak summer weekends and large festivals, earlier is always better. We'll always try to accommodate shorter-notice enquiries where possible — just get in touch.

Installation typically takes two to three hours depending on the site and water access. We arrive well before your event start time and have everything operational and signed off before your guests arrive. Derig at the end of the day takes around the same amount of time.

Subject to availability and our operator's schedule, we can often extend on the day. Additional hours are charged at £180 per two-hour block. It's always worth mentioning at the time of booking if there's a chance you'll want to extend — we'll do our best to make it work.

The Water Hazard operates in light rain — it's an outdoor attraction and a bit of British weather adds to the drama. We will not operate in conditions that present a safety risk, including thunderstorms, high winds or extreme weather. We monitor forecasts closely and will communicate with you in advance if conditions look marginal. Our cancellation policy covers weather-related cancellations — please ask for details at the time of booking.

Pricing & Packages

Our hire packages start at £1,250 for The Drop Shot (up to 6 hours), £1,850 for The Hole In One (up to 8 hours, includes QR video recording) and £2,450 for The Champion's Cup (up to 10 hours, includes shot flight tracking and two operators). All prices exclude VAT. Full details are on our hire page.

Travel within 100 miles of our base is included in the package price. Events beyond 100 miles may incur a travel surcharge — we'll quote this clearly when you enquire. For multi-day events or extended residencies further afield, we'll put together a bespoke package that reflects the logistics involved.

Yes — we offer discounts for bookings of two or more consecutive days, and for extended seasonal residencies. If you're planning a festival, a multi-day event or a regular installation across a season, get in touch and we'll put together a tailored quote.

Each player gets a personal QR code linking to a video of their own shot — filmed, processed and ready to scan and share on the day. Videos are branded with your event name or logo and are perfect for social media. This is included as standard in The Hole In One and Champion's Cup packages, or available as a £350 add-on to The Drop Shot.

Safety & Insurance

Safety is our absolute priority. The floating green is engineered and tested to strict stability and buoyancy standards. All installations are supervised by a trained operator throughout the event. Players remain on the bank or tee platform at all times — no one goes onto the water. Life rings and safety equipment are present at every event as standard.

Yes — we carry full public liability insurance. Documentation is available on request and can be provided to venue managers or event organisers prior to the event. If your venue has specific insurance requirements, let us know at the time of booking and we'll ensure everything is in order.

Yes, with appropriate supervision. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at the tee platform at all times. Our operator will manage the flow of players and ensure all safety guidelines are followed. We recommend a minimum age of around eight years old for attempting a shot, though this depends on the individual child.

We use specially designed floating golf balls so even a wayward shot stays on the surface rather than sinking. Where appropriate and subject to site assessment, we can also use biodegradable golf balls — ideal for environmentally sensitive waterways. Our operator retrieves balls periodically throughout the event. It's all part of the experience.

Site Requirements

We can deploy on most calm inland water bodies — lakes, ponds, docks, marina basins, canals and managed waterways. We need reasonably still water with no strong tidal or current flow. The water depth needs to be sufficient to allow safe anchoring. We carry out a site assessment before every event to confirm suitability.

The floating green itself is 4.5m x 3.5m. The tee position is typically set between 20 and 40 metres from the green depending on the water body and the level of challenge you want to create. We also need vehicle access to the water's edge for installation. We'll assess all of this during the site visit.

For temporary hire events, planning permission is not usually required. Some waterways — particularly those managed by the Canal & River Trust or Port Authorities — may require a licence or permit for use of the water. We have experience navigating these requirements and will advise you on what's needed for your specific site. We can assist with applications where required.

Tidal installations are assessed on a case-by-case basis. In sheltered tidal locations with a manageable tidal range, installation may be possible. We would need to carry out a thorough site assessment and factor tidal timings into the event schedule. Get in touch and we'll discuss the specifics of your site.

Purchasing & Owning a Hole

Purchase prices typically fall in the range of £10,000 to £25,000 depending on specification, branding requirements and site conditions. Every installation is quoted individually. We don't believe in one-size-fits-all pricing — get in touch via our ownership page and we'll put together a detailed quote for your specific venue and requirements.

Every purchase includes the floating golf green itself, full installation and positioning on your water, and custom branding — flags, tee signage and collateral carrying your venue's identity. Optional extras include QR code video systems, shot flight tracking technology, and ongoing maintenance agreements.

Our typical lead time from confirmed order to installed green is six to eight weeks. This covers fabrication, branding, delivery logistics and installation scheduling. We'll give you a firm timeline at the point of order.

Yes — we offer optional annual maintenance agreements covering inspection visits, surface checks and any remedial work required to keep your green in top condition season after season. This is quoted separately and can be added at any point after purchase.
